24-Year-Old Woman Shot During Armed Robbery in Lakeview
A 24-year-old woman was shot during an armed robbery in Lakeview early Sunday after three men jumped out of an SUV and tried to take her belongings, according to Chicago police.
The incident occurred around 12:23 a.m. in the 400 block of West Wellington Avenue as the victim was walking with friends.
According to police, an SUV pulled up and three men exited the vehicle. One of the men brandished a gun at the woman, demanding her belongings. A struggle ensued, resulting in the woman being shot in the abdomen. The perpetrators then fled back to the SUV and escaped with two backpacks and a cellphone.
The victim was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she is reported to be in good condition.
Law enforcement has issued a lookout for a silver or black Ford SUV with a “baby on board” sticker on the rear window. The vehicle was last seen fleeing south on Lake Shore Drive, passing through the Loop, and heading towards the Near West Side. As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made.
This incident marks the second shooting in Lakeview this year, with previous year-to-date totals as follows:

The shooting occurred just a few blocks away from a fatal armed robbery in May 2023, where 35-year-old William Hair was shot by assailants attempting to steal his belongings. No charges have been brought in connection with that incident.
