Sunday Afternoon Fight Turns Fatal in Wheat Ridge
A tragic incident unfolded in Wheat Ridge on Sunday afternoon when a fight between two women escalated, resulting in a fatal stabbing. According to police reports, the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Imani Tate, has been taken into custody on charges of second-degree murder and violating a protection order prohibiting her from possessing weapons.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department responded to the scene on the 3900 block of Sheridan Boulevard around 3:27 p.m. Witnesses reported that Tate stabbed the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, before fleeing northbound on Sheridan. Tate was apprehended a short distance away near the intersection of Benton Street and West 41st Avenue.
Tate is currently held in Jefferson County Jail on a $1 million cash-only bond and is set to appear in court on Friday for formal charges. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later time.
