An unidentified woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in a shocking incident that unfolded in Brooklyn on Friday morning. The incident, captured on surveillance video, showed the woman, believed to be in her 30s, crossing the street at the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville when she was hit by a black Ford SUV around 6:50 a.m.
According to police and sources, it appeared that the woman had just left a bodega and crossed the street against the light when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the SUV may not have been aware that they had hit someone, sources added.
The surveillance footage obtained by The Post revealed the horrifying sequence of events as the car, traveling west on Pitkin Avenue, dragged the woman for about a block before her body was dislodged from underneath the vehicle. Despite the victim lying motionless on the road, the driver continued down the block and fled the scene.
The woman’s body was later discovered at the intersection of Osborn Street and Pitkin Avenue, where she was pronounced dead by authorities. Suffering from severe trauma to her body, the victim did not have any identification on her at the time of the incident.
As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the hit-and-run incident. The investigation into the tragic death of the unidentified woman is ongoing.
