20-Year-Old Woman Accused of Rampage on CTA Red Line Train and in Lakeview
A 20-year-old woman, Tam’rell Ashley, is facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing and assaulting three people on a CTA Red Line train in Lakeview. The incident, described by a judge as a “seven-minute rampage,” also involved attacks on two individuals walking dogs near the train station.
According to prosecutors, the incident began at 6:41 p.m. on a northbound Red Line train between the Belmont and Sheridan stations. A man reported that a woman approached him on the train, hit him in the head, and forcibly took his $200 Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Shortly after, a second victim seated nearby was harassed by Ashley and another woman. Ashley allegedly punched the woman in the face repeatedly, causing a bloody lip. A third passenger, who witnessed the disturbances, was also assaulted when Ashley demanded her phone and struck her in the mouth with a can of Cardi B Whip Shots vodka-infused whipped cream.
As officers were searching for the attackers, a woman walking her dogs in the area reported being assaulted by two women, one of whom was identified as Ashley. A man who tried to intervene was also attacked, according to a CPD report.
Ashley was apprehended by the police shortly after the incidents, and Judge Anthony Calabrese ordered her to be held in custody due to the severity of the assaults, labeling the series of events as a “seven-minute rampage.”
