BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

Over two centuries ago, the architects of our Constitution recognized the critical role of intellectual property in fostering innovation. As we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the creative endeavors of American inventors and artists, who tirelessly transform visions into reality.
Americans have consistently been at the forefront of innovation across various fields, including technology and artistic expression. Under my administration, we are spearheading advancements in dynamic sectors, particularly in emerging digital technologies such as artificial intelligence. I recently enacted an Executive Order aimed at eliminating bureaucratic hurdles to solidify our leadership in AI and other vital industries, including automation, blockchain, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
To bolster our innovation policy, I established the Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, uniting leading minds to guide our technological direction. The focus remains steadfast on protecting and advancing next-generation technologies essential for progress in the 21st century.
My administration is vigorously addressing the challenges posed by both adversaries and allies who have historically undermined our advancements. Through strategic tariffs, we are recalibrating our trade policies to enhance intellectual property protections in both new and existing agreements. Just as we defend our tangible assets, we will not tolerate intellectual property theft and will actively protect American enterprises and livelihoods from those aiming to compromise our economic strength.
As President Calvin Coolidge wisely noted, “The business of America is business.” Our economy ranks as the world’s most formidable precisely because we encourage individuals to dream big, take risks, and achieve the seemingly impossible. By promoting and protecting intellectual property, we empower artists, authors, scientists, and inventors to concentrate on their creative pursuits.
The future of our great nation hinges on our unwavering commitment to safeguarding intellectual property, which serves as a catalyst for economic growth, technological progress, and global competitiveness. On this World Intellectual Property Day, we reaffirm our dedication to nurturing the innovative spirit that continues to propel America forward.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, hereby proclaim April 26, 2025, as World Intellectual Property Day. I encourage all Americans to honor the remarkable contributions of our creators and inventors, whose achievements enrich our nation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand this twenty-sixth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.

DONALD J. TRUMP
