WWE saw a significant turnaround in its fortunes when Triple H took over the creative team in the summer of 2022. The change in leadership led to a boost in ratings and ticket sales, bringing a new wave of excitement to the wrestling promotion.
During the November 1 episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer shared an interesting tidbit about WWE’s attempts to bring in outside help. He revealed that WWE executive Ed Cohen had reached out to him with a lucrative offer to join the company and assist with booking. However, Meltzer declined the offer, citing a lack of interest in making the move. WWE also approached Bryan Alvarez, another Wrestling Observer personality, through Meltzer, but Alvarez also turned down the opportunity.
Since making the move to Netflix earlier this year, RAW has consistently ranked among the streaming giant’s top 10 most-watched shows globally, showcasing the continued popularity of WWE programming.
In a recent update on WWE WrestleMania 42, Meltzer reported that Seth Rollins had to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW due to a shoulder injury. This development has cast doubt on Rollins’ availability for WrestleMania 42, with the possibility of him missing the marquee event as he recuperates.
To fill the void left by Rollins, WWE is reportedly considering CM Punk as a replacement, as per Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Punk has been prominently featured in new promotional materials for WrestleMania 42, hinting at a potential showdown for the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Punk’s potential title win and his inclusion in the WrestleMania 42 poster alongside Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and Triple H only adds to the excitement surrounding the event.
As WWE gears up for WrestleMania 42, the landscape of the promotion continues to evolve, with new faces and storylines emerging to captivate fans around the world. The future looks bright for WWE, and the upcoming showcase event promises to be a must-see spectacle for wrestling enthusiasts everywhere.
