xQc says Twitch adpocalypse is “not real,” claims streamers discussing politics have “higher risk”

In the world of Twitch, controversies and drama are not uncommon. Recently, Twitch streamers have been facing a new challenge – the Twitch adpocalypse. This term refers to the reduction or complete stoppage of ad revenue that streamers receive from their broadcasts. The issue came to light when FaZe Clan member Kaysan claimed that Twitch demonetized his channel for using the “Iran” tag in his broadcasts. Another streamer, Jason “TheStockGuy,” also reported a significant drop in his ad revenue, stating that it had decreased by 95%.

One prominent figure in the Twitch community, Felix “xQc,” shared his thoughts on the Twitch adpocalypse during a livestream on November 17, 2024. According to xQc, the adpocalypse is “not real,” and streamers who engage with political content are at a higher risk of losing ad revenue. He emphasized that streamers who create “hateful” content or use tags that are less-monetized may receive less income from advertisements.

During the same livestream, xQc reacted to a clip featuring Twitch streamer Central_Committee, who accused Zack “Asmongold” and Steven “Destiny” of being responsible for the Twitch adpocalypse. Central_Committee went as far as calling Destiny the “enemy of the platform” and suggested that viewers turn against them for “ruining the bag.” In response, xQc humorously asked if Central_Committee was the “Hitman guy,” referencing a previous incident where Central_Committee allegedly placed a bounty on Destiny.

xQc also criticized Central_Committee’s remarks, highlighting the hypocrisy in blaming others for the adpocalypse. He pointed out that Twitch’s decision to ban gambling streams had also negatively impacted streamers like himself. xQc’s playful and sarcastic commentary shed light on the complexities of the situation and the different factors at play in the Twitch adpocalypse.

It’s worth noting that xQc is not the only streamer to address the Twitch adpocalypse. Asmongold, another popular Twitch personality, has also shared his thoughts on the matter. The ongoing controversy surrounding ad revenue on Twitch continues to be a hot topic in the streaming community, with streamers and viewers alike closely following developments and sharing their opinions on social media platforms.
