Gamers worldwide can now celebrate as researchers have made a groundbreaking discovery. It is now possible to convert any shape, whether it’s a dragon or a kitten, into a fair die. This innovation opens up endless possibilities for creating custom dice for games that rely on random outcomes.
Lead researcher, Keenan Crane from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, explains the inspiration behind the study. “We began with the question: ‘Can you determine the resting probabilities of an object just by looking at it?’ In other words, if you roll a specific shape, what are the chances it will land in a particular orientation?”
