Good news for Gmail users: Change your email address without losing access to old emails

Are you tired of your current Gmail address and wish you could change it without losing access to your old emails and files? Well, you may soon be able to do just that!

According to a report by the Google Pixel Hub group on Telegram and subsequently covered by 9to5Google, Google is gradually rolling out a new feature that will allow users to change the email address tied to their Google account. This includes the ability to switch from your current Gmail address to a new email address that ends in gmail.com.

If you decide to make the switch, your old Gmail address will still function as an alias, and you will be able to sign into Google services using either your new or old address. However, please note that you will not be able to create any additional Gmail addresses linked to your account for the next 12 months.

As of now, the English-language version of the support site still mentions that users with email addresses ending in @gmail.com usually cannot change them. The site suggests either changing the name associated with the address or signing up for a new address and transferring emails and contacts over.
