A New Chapter Begins in the Zombies Franchise
Exciting news for fans of the popular “Zombies” franchise as Disney Channel and Disney+ have officially greenlit a fifth installment. However, there’s a twist as franchise stars Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly will not be reprising their roles as Zed and Addison in this new movie.
“Zombies 5” will see Malachi Barton and Freya Skye taking the lead, reprising their roles as Victor and Nova from the previous film, “Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires.” Manheim and Donnelly will still be involved in the franchise as executive producers.
In addition to Barton and Skye, Trevor Tordjman will return as Bucky, with other familiar faces like Swayam Bhatia, Julian Lerner, and Mekonnen Knife also making a comeback. The cast will also see new additions, including a trio of mermaids played by Diaana Babnicova, Taylor Oliver, and Olive Mortimer, as well as Emily Costtrici as zombie Izzy, Zed’s cousin and new transfer student.
Production for “Zombies 5” is set to kick off this spring in New Zealand, promising fans a fresh and exciting chapter in the beloved franchise.
According to Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, “‘Zombies’ has become a defining franchise for the current generation.” The introduction of mermaids in the upcoming film will bring a new dynamic to the story while staying true to the themes of unity and acceptance that have resonated with audiences.
The official logline for “Zombies 5” teases a test of the newfound peace between the Daywalkers and Vampires when a group of mermaids arrives in Rayburn, stirring up trouble and threatening the harmony that has been achieved. Nova and Victor must once again unite their groups to uncover the mermaids’ true intentions and protect their hard-earned peace.
With Paul Hoen returning to direct and executive produce, along with a talented team of writers and producers, “Zombies 5” is shaping up to be another hit in the franchise. The film’s success is undeniable, with previous installments drawing in millions of views globally, solidifying its status as a fan-favorite.
