Ten Illegal Migrant Youths Found at California Marijuana Farm During Immigration Raid

A recent immigration raid at Glass House Farms in Southern California led to the discovery of ten illegal migrant youths, most of them unaccompanied. The situation escalated when one protester fired a gun at authorities during the chaotic operation, as reported by Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott.

According to Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, federal agents “rescued” nine of the children who crossed the border unaccompanied. The alarming situation has raised concerns about possible child labor violations, exploitation, and human trafficking.

Following the raid, an investigation into child labor practices at the farm was announced by Scott. The operation faced resistance from rioters who attempted to block access to the fields, leading to a confrontation with law enforcement.

Despite the challenges faced during the raid, several workers were taken into custody, and the farm, Glass House Farms, confirmed that they fully cooperated with the search warrants issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

The farm, which has a permit to grow cannabis in Ventura County, also dedicates part of its space to growing tomatoes and cucumbers. The incident sheds light on the broader issue of unaccompanied migrant children in the United States, with the Biden administration reportedly losing track of around 320,000 such children, putting them at risk of exploitation.
