10 Tips for Less Stressful and Smarter Daily Work

“Tell me to what you pay attention and I will tell you who you are.”

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle

Starting your day with a clear and focused mind can make a huge difference in how productive and stress-free your daily work can be. Here are 10 tips to help you simplify and relaxify your work routine:

1. Do one thing at a time

Focus on completing one task at a time to reduce stress, confusion, and improve the quality of your work. Multitasking can lead to feeling overwhelmed, so concentrate on one task until it’s done.

2. Keep a minimalistic workspace

A clutter-free workspace can help you stay focused and clear-headed. Keep only the essentials on your desk to avoid distractions and maintain a productive environment.

3. Go slow

Take your time with tasks to prevent feeling overwhelmed. Slowing down can make work feel less burdensome and reduce the urge to procrastinate.

4. Eliminate

Regularly assess your tasks and eliminate any that aren’t necessary. Simplifying your workload can free up time and energy for more important tasks.

5. Cycle focused work with full rest

Alternate between periods of intense focus and short breaks to maintain mental sharpness and energy throughout the day. Set a timer for work intervals and use break times to rest and recharge.

6. Be kind to yourself

Instead of dwelling on mistakes, focus on learning from them to improve in the future. Treat yourself with compassion and use setbacks as opportunities for growth.

7. Limit email and online distractions

Avoid checking emails and social media first thing in the morning to prevent stress and maintain focus on important tasks. Save these activities for later in the day to prioritize your workload.

8. Limit information input

Unsubscribe from unnecessary blogs, podcasts, and email newsletters to reduce information overload. Keep only the most valuable and inspiring sources to save time and attention.

9. Ask daily focus questions

Stay on track by asking yourself key questions throughout the day, such as “What is the most important thing I can do right now?” or “What would I work on if I only had 2 hours for work today?” Write these questions down to remind yourself of your priorities.

10. Focus on action

Avoid overthinking and analysis paralysis by focusing on actionable steps to move forward. Empower yourself by taking small steps towards your goals and avoiding negative self-talk.
