Police in Chicago are currently on the hunt for a suspect following a fatal shooting that took place on the Northwest Side. The incident occurred on Sunday night during an altercation in the 4500 block of North Kennicott.
According to reports, a woman called 911 at around 10:14 p.m. to report that her and her husband were being threatened by a group of men. Just eight minutes later, another call came in reporting that a man had been shot in front of the same address.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 24-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Nearby, a shell casing and a knife were found, indicating that the victim had been shot during a physical fight. Video footage from the area captured three individuals involved in the incident: the victim, the suspected gunman, and a third unidentified man.
The gunman was described as a skinny Hispanic male standing at approximately 5’11” tall. He was wearing a gray shirt with the number 13 on the back, dark shorts, and a hat. The officer who viewed the footage mentioned that the suspect fled the scene on foot and may reside nearby.
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
