Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information that could help solve the case of Hector Negron, a tow truck driver and father of five who was fatally shot in West Town three years ago. Negron was caught in the crossfire of two gunmen on the 1900 block of West Fulton Street on November 13, 2022.
According to Chicago police, the occupants of two cars were shooting at each other as they chased through the area. One of the rounds struck Negron in the side, causing him to crash into a bus stop near Damen Avenue. Negron, 49, later died from his injuries.
Surveillance video released by CPD last December shows individuals and vehicles believed to be involved in the shooting. Cook County Crime Stoppers Executive Director Paul Rutherford emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving the case. “Someone out there knows what happened,” Rutherford said. “Crime Stoppers allows you to do the right thing while staying completely anonymous. Your information could help bring justice and prevent further violence.”
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-535-STOP or email TIPS@cookcountycrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tipsters will receive a unique code to claim rewards if their information leads to charges.
