Man Pleads Guilty to Robberies on CTA Trains and Smoke Shop Holdup
A 20-year-old man has recently pleaded guilty to a series of robberies on CTA trains and a smash-and-grab robbery at a smoke shop in Rogers Park. Court records indicate that Kenyon Guillory received a 12-year prison sentence for three of the cases, while one CTA robbery case remains unresolved.
According to prosecutors, Guillory confessed to being involved in two CTA train robberies and the robbery of a smoke shop as part of a plea agreement. The crimes took place earlier this year, with Guillory allegedly participating in a takeover-style robbery at Galaxy Smoke Shop on April 6. During the incident, Guillory and several other individuals stormed the store wearing masks and gloves, with some of them implying they were armed.
Guillory was identified in CTA surveillance footage of the getaway from the smoke shop robbery. He reportedly admitted to his involvement in the crimes and confessed to selling stolen cigarettes on CTA trains. Additionally, Guillory was implicated in three separate CTA train muggings that occurred on April 6, April 7, and April 9. He was arrested after the April 9 incident, where two victims identified him and another individual, Kevin Stoner, as the perpetrators.
In one of the train muggings, Guillory allegedly held a knife to a victim’s side while Stoner searched the victim’s pockets. The victims reported items stolen, including a debit card, a baseball cap, and liquor bottles. Guillory and Stoner were apprehended by officers at a nearby gas station following the incident.
While Stoner has already pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing, Guillory’s case is still pending. Judge Ursula Waloski sentenced Guillory to 12 years in prison for the two CTA robberies and seven years for the smoke shop holdup. The sentences will be served concurrently at 50%, with an expected parole date of June 27, 2031.
