Jeff Bezos, the fourth richest person in the world with a net worth of $244.5 billion, is known for his strategic investments that have reshaped industries. Since stepping down as Amazon CEO in 2021, Bezos has diversified his portfolio, investing in a wide range of companies that are shaping the future of technology, business, and society.

One of Bezos’ notable investments was in EverFi, an educational technology company that focuses on financial education, social and emotional learning, and STEM and career readiness. Bezos invested $190 million in EverFi during a Series D funding round in April 2017. The company was acquired by Blackbaud for $750 million in 2022, showcasing the success of Bezos’ investment.

Another standout investment by Bezos Expeditions was in Plenty, an agriculture technology company that develops plant sciences for pesticide and GMO-free crops. Bezos invested $200 million in Plenty during its Series B funding round in July 2017. The company has raised a total of $941 million in funding and is revolutionizing traditional agriculture methods with its vertical farms.

Bezos’ investment in Airbnb, a popular accommodation marketplace, also proved to be lucrative. Bezos invested $112 million in Airbnb, which went public in December 2020 at $68 per share, valuing the company at $47 billion. Currently, Airbnb shares are trading at $141.31, with a market capitalization of over $87.22 billion.

In the healthcare sector, Bezos supported Grail, a company focused on early cancer detection. Bezos Expeditions invested $100 million in Grail in 2016, and the company raised over $2 billion in funding before being acquired by Illumina for $8 billion in 2020.
