Two teenage boys with outstanding arrest warrants are now facing robbery charges after being implicated in an assault on a woman in Chicago’s Loop area on Sunday night, according to police.

The 38-year-old victim reported to police that around 11:10 p.m., while in the 100 block of North Wabash Avenue, she was approached by a group of up to seven young individuals. They allegedly stole her bag and cash, as stated in a preliminary police report.

Following a search of the vicinity, officers apprehended two suspects believed to be involved. A 17-year-old boy was detained at 12:12 a.m. on Monday, followed by the arrest of a 16-year-old boy at 1:32 a.m., both within the Loop.

The police confirmed that both teenagers face robbery charges, with the 17-year-old additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. At the time of their arrest, both had active warrants. Details regarding the warrants or the juveniles’ backgrounds remain unavailable, as state law protects juvenile records from public access.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
