Television City and Orbital Studios have joined forces to introduce a new virtual production studio in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles.
The state-of-the-art LED volume is set to be installed at 7800 Beverly Boulevard, within Television City. This initiative highlights Orbital’s dedication to delivering top-tier virtual production experiences, catering to various production needs, regardless of size, budget, or creative vision. The virtual production system is designed to meet the industry’s highest standards.
“We could not be more excited to welcome Orbital Studios to Television City,” stated Anthony Mazziotti, the executive director of stage operations and marketing at Television City. “Their work elevates this lot to one of the most advanced production environments globally, while respecting the legacy of these stages. This partnership is precisely what maintains Television City’s iconic and essential status.”
This move is notable as it counters the trend of productions moving to other states and countries. By allowing projects to film international locations within Los Angeles, this collaboration supports local creative endeavors, sustains crew employment, and encourages production spending to remain within the city.
Orbital is currently working on the FX series “The Drop: A Snowfall Saga.” Their recent projects include the Netflix series “Nemesis,” where they digitally reconstructed parts of downtown Los Angeles, as well as “Justified: City Primeval,” “History’s Greatest Heists,” and the new 20-part docuseries “World War II with Tom Hanks.”
“Walking these stages, you feel the weight of what was made here,” expressed A.J. Wedding, founder and CEO of Orbital Studios. “Generations of crews poured everything they had into these rooms. That legacy makes us determined to get it right. We’re bringing the latest in virtual production technology and the most talented virtual art and AI artists inside spaces that helped define American television, because the best way to honor a storied place is to make sure the next great stories happen there, too.”
