A tragic incident has unfolded in Chicago, surrounding the untimely death of a young girl. Authorities have confirmed that a two-year-old girl found unresponsive in a stroller this past July died from a drug overdose, now classified as a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident occurred on July 15 at approximately 4 p.m. when a 43-year-old woman alerted police in the 2600 block of West Roosevelt Road, claiming that the child she was pushing had lost consciousness. In a swift response, officers transported both the young girl and the woman to Stroger Hospital, where the child was subsequently pronounced dead.

At the time, investigators speculated that the child might have ingested drugs managed by a family member. The girl’s weight at the time of her passing was reported to be around 20 pounds.

The medical examiner’s findings have corroborated these initial concerns, announcing that the toddler succumbed to an overdose involving a potent mix of methadone and tramadol, an opioid pain reliever.

Despite the ongoing investigation by Chicago police into the circumstances surrounding her death, no arrests or charges have been made public as of yet.
