3 Comfy Teacher Items I Can’t Live Without

As educators, our days are filled with constant movement and interaction. From the early hours of the morning until the final bell, we are on our feet, engaging with students, planning lessons, and attending meetings. In order to navigate the demands of a school day with grace and energy, there are three essential items that I simply can’t live without. These items serve as my lifeline, my source of comfort and support in the midst of the chaos that is teaching.

1. Comfortable Shoes:
Gone are the days of sacrificing comfort for style. As a teacher, I have learned the hard way that wearing unsupportive shoes is a recipe for disaster. With the amount of time spent standing, walking, and supervising throughout the day, comfortable footwear is a non-negotiable. My go-to choices are sneakers like Asics Gel-Kayanos or Hoka Bondis, along with casual slip-ons from TOMS or Birkenstocks for those brave days. While I may not be winning any fashion awards, my feet thank me every night for choosing comfort over style.

2. A Massive Water Bottle:
Staying hydrated is key to maintaining energy and focus throughout the day. Talking, teaching, and moving around constantly can lead to dehydration, leaving us feeling drained and exhausted. I have learned the hard way the importance of keeping multiple large refillable water bottles at hand. My personal favorites are the 32-ounce Hydro Flask and Nalgene bottles, which I keep at my desk and in my mini-fridge for easy access. Staying hydrated not only keeps me energized but also ensures that I am taking care of my body amidst the demands of the school day.

3. Laneige’s Lip Glowy Balm:
Dry and chapped lips are a common side effect of the constant talking and interaction that comes with teaching. To combat this, I always have a trusty lip balm on hand. My current favorite is Laneige’s Lip Glowy Balm, which provides moisture and protection without the hassle of dipping fingers into a pot. Keeping my lips hydrated and comfortable is a small but essential part of my daily routine as a teacher.

In conclusion, these three items – comfortable shoes, a massive water bottle, and lip balm – are my must-have essentials for getting through each school day. By prioritizing comfort, hydration, and self-care, I am better equipped to handle the challenges and demands of teaching. What are your favorite comfort items for the classroom?
