Shortly after midnight on Sunday, a violent brawl involving 30 individuals erupted near the Greeley Stampede grounds, as confirmed by authorities.
Thankfully, there were no fatalities or serious injuries resulting from the altercation, although Greeley Police Cmdr. Mike Heck described it as the most severe incident he has witnessed during his tenure overseeing law enforcement operations at the Stampede. Despite the ongoing event, the area was cleared of bystanders not involved in the brawl.
Upon the commencement of the fight, ten Greeley officers who were on patrol at the Stampede quickly intervened, prompting most of the crowd to disperse upon their arrival.
Reports indicate that some of the individuals involved in the brawl were affiliated with gangs, and had prior encounters with law enforcement earlier that evening. While three arrests were made following the incident, formal charges have yet to be filed against any of the suspects based on court records.
Cmdr. Heck mentioned that the Greeley police are currently examining footage of the brawl to identify additional participants and take necessary legal action against them.
