AEW star Chris Jericho is set to participate in a Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing 2026. This marks the first time in five years that this thrilling contest will be broadcast on television.
Jericho was involved in the first-ever Stadium Stampede match in 2020, where the Inner Circle battled The Elite. He is currently preparing for another encounter this year against Ricochet, the Gates of Agony, and two additional competitors. This matchup was confirmed on Wednesday’s Dynamite episode. Following a series of recent altercations, Ricochet demanded another opportunity to face Jericho, resulting in a verbal exchange between the two. The former National Champion accepted the challenge only under the Stadium Stampede stipulation, questioning if Jericho could find allies to join him in the battle.
Chris Jericho is no stranger to the Stadium Stampede match. His team, the Inner Circle, participated in the 2020 event but was defeated by The Elite. However, they secured a victory the following year against The Pinnacle at Double or Nothing 2021. This week’s announcement has sparked curiosity about who will team up with Y2J to confront Ricochet and his group.
Here are some potential partners from the AEW roster who could align with the former AEW World Champion.
The Hurt Syndicate
The duo of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin recently returned to AEW after a short break. Since their arrival in late 2024, The Hurt Syndicate has been a formidable faction, even capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Lashley and Benjamin have aligned themselves with Jericho in his ongoing rivalry with Ricochet. They joined forces with Y2J during the Playoff Palooza special edition of AEW Collision, although they were unsuccessful due to Ricochet and The Demand’s devious tactics. This week on Dynamite, a brawl involving Chris Jericho, Ricochet, and The Gates of Agony saw all three members of The Hurt Syndicate—Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin—rush in for the rescue. This confrontation strongly suggests that Lashley and Benjamin will stand by the former AEW Champion in the Stadium Stampede match.
Sammy Guevara
Sammy Guevara might make his AEW return at Double or Nothing 2026, potentially reuniting with Chris Jericho for the chaotic Stadium Stampede match.
Guevara is familiar with this type of match, having competed in similar encounters with Jericho during the original Inner Circle era. His fearless approach and readiness to take daring risks could be crucial against The Demand. Guevara’s connection with Chris Jericho could also greatly contribute to their team’s success in this high-stakes battle.
Sammy’s last AEW appearance was in November 2025 on an episode of Collision in a tag team match. Since then, the Spanish God has appeared in ROH. His return at Double or Nothing would immediately inject energy and unpredictability into Chris Jericho’s team.
Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega is another potential ally who has previously competed in a Stadium Stampede match. The Best Bout Machine last wrestled at AEW Dynasty 2026 in a World Championship match against MJF. Despite a valiant effort, Kenny did not secure the win in that event.
Although they were rivals in AEW, the two former World Champions teamed up in 2023. They later formed the Golden Jets tag team during their feud with the Don Callis Family. The duo achieved notable victories and even faced The Young Bucks at Full Gear 2023, showcasing their chemistry despite years of rivalry and competition.
If Kenny Omega joins Chris Jericho this year, their collaboration could significantly alter the dynamics of the match. Omega’s outstanding athleticism and experience paired with Jericho’s veteran instincts would make them strong contenders against Ricochet and The Demand.
