Cupido recently highlighted Balenciaga’s new performance line launch, featuring a unique combination of a soft volume bomber paired with a maxi bubble skirt. This fresh take on athletic wear incorporates feminine influences, creating a blend of soft volumes, peplums for bottoms, and balloon shapes in wide-leg pants. The infusion of romantic elements into sporty aesthetics is expected to be a prominent trend in the upcoming seasons.

According to data from Heuritech, there is a surge expected in feminine silhouettes crafted from performance fabrics. Key pieces include deep plunge tops, ringer tees, and blouson windbreakers in delicate hues such as cream and powder pink. Additionally, prints like dainty polka dots are set to make a statement. Balloon-inspired sleeves and airy Nylon fabrics with elasticated drawstring waists are also predicted to be popular, allowing for adjustable silhouettes.

Dubbed as “technical romanticism” by Munday, this trend involves blending utilitarian themes with softer, more romantic elements. Fabrics like organza, knits, jersey, and crease-effect fabrics are expected to be prominent in this trend. The recent collaboration between Cecilie Bahnsen and The North Face, featuring cinched waterproofs in floral prints, serves as a clear reference point for this evolving style.

The influence of cultural pride and techniques is also expected to make its mark in sportswear, with brands incorporating traditional motifs and techniques such as beading and prints. This fusion of performance and culture has already seen success, with collaborations like Ralph Lauren’s partnership with Indigenous-led brand Tópa receiving positive reception.

In terms of color trends for FW26, brown continues to dominate the fashion scene. While dark brown hues have been popular for the past year, warmer and brighter browns closer to dark beige are expected to trend. Shades like dune beige, hemp brown, cinnamon, oak brown, camel, and chestnut are forecasted to gain online visibility.

Overall, the fashion landscape for FW26 is set to be a blend of romantic and utilitarian styles, with a focus on feminine silhouettes in performance fabrics and a resurgence of brown hues in lighter shades. The integration of cultural influences and techniques into sportswear is also expected to be a key trend, showcasing a fusion of tradition and modernity in the fashion industry.
