Starz has greenlit a new drama series produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson called “Fightland,” which delves into the intense world of British boxing. The eight-episode show is set to be a gripping tale of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition both inside and outside of the ring. This project adds to Jackson’s successful partnership with Starz, known for producing the hit “Power” franchise for the network.
The plot of “Fightland” centers around a disgraced former boxing champion who returns to London seeking vengeance against a crime family he believes betrayed him. The series promises edge-of-your-seat action and a world filled with dangerous characters, showcasing a level of money and power never seen before. Production is scheduled to kick off this fall in London.
This new series order comes at an exciting time for Starz, as the cable network recently became an independent entity focused on building up its slate of original content. “Fightland” will be helmed by Starz veterans Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr., who will serve as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Jackson will also executive produce through his G-Unit Film & Television banner, alongside Francis Hopkinson and Kate Leadbetter for Expanded Media. Additionally, Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith will join as executive producers and writers.
Jackson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “’Fightland’ marks my first internationally produced show through my G-Unit Film & Television. I am excited to bring that global energy to the screen and anticipate this to be more successful than anything I’ve done before—boxing’s raw stakes are gonna take it to another level.” Starz president of original programming Kathryn Busby added, “Set against the backdrop of the British boxing underground, this series promises to be the perfect combination of character and adrenaline. ‘Fightland’ is the kind of unapologetically visceral, premium storytelling that STARZ is known for, and we believe that each dramatic round of this compelling drama will leave fans wanting more.”
Jackson and his G-Unit Film and Television are represented by IAG. Fans can look forward to immersing themselves in the intense and thrilling world of “Fightland” when it premieres on Starz.
