Over the past weekend, seven individuals were fatally shot and another 26 were injured in various incidents of gun violence throughout Chicago, as reported by law enforcement. This weekend’s figures represent a slight rise compared to the same timeframe last year, although the city’s violence tracking site HeyJackass indicates that four out of the last eight years since 2015 recorded higher shooting counts for this weekend, while six were lower.

No mass shooting events, typically characterized by four or more people injured, were documented during this timeframe.

Among those injured was 30-year-old Marimar Martinez, who was shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Brighton Park after allegedly attempting to ram a federal vehicle and advancing toward the agent.
