Assembling an outfit for the classroom that is both comfortable and stylish while remaining budget-friendly is often a challenge. However, we are delighted to see teachers accomplish this daily through their Outfit of the Day (OOTD) posts.
This excitement led us to introduce the $99 Amazon Challenge, a series by We Are Teachers that invites educators to put together a fashionable look or enhance their classroom décor for $99 or less on Amazon.
In this segment, we collaborated with Megan Cook, a 4th-grade teacher known for sharing her OOTD inspiration on Instagram at Fab and Fit in Fourth. Megan excels at creating fashionable and comfortable school outfits, and we were eager to see how she would embrace the challenge.
Megan expressed, “I love putting together cute and comfortable outfits for the classroom! It also helps when they are affordable. Fashion doesn’t have to break the bank, and this challenge is proof of that.”
How Megan Took On the $99 Challenge
Instead of focusing on a single fashion trend, Megan selected versatile pieces that are easy to wear, comfortable, and can be restyled multiple times. She aimed for items that teachers can repeatedly incorporate into their wardrobe.
Her top pick? The track pants.
Megan noted, “They are so comfortable and can be styled in so many different ways. Dress them up, or dress them down for a more casual look. Either way, you’ll look cute and put together.”
Here’s a look at what Megan bought:

The outcome is a refined, practical outfit suitable for daily teaching, demonstrating how a modest budget can yield impressive results with smart selections.
Why We Love Seeing These Challenges
Our favorite aspect of the $99 Amazon Challenge is observing how each teacher uniquely approaches it. There’s no singular right way; each participant brings their personal style, priorities, and creativity, making the series engaging and diverse.
We plan to keep evolving the challenge, sometimes focusing on fashion and other times on classroom improvements. However, the core question remains: What can teachers create with $99 or less?
