Pam Kaufman, a stalwart of Paramount, is poised to depart from her role after nearly three decades with the studio, as reported by Variety.

According to insider sources, Kaufman is set to resign from her current post as president and CEO of international markets, as well as global consumer products and experiences. In this influential role, she has been instrumental in propelling Paramount’s international division forward across six continents, encompassing areas like broadcast and cable networks, streaming services, and film studios.

Kaufman first joined Nickelodeon in 1997 as its inaugural Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), where she played a key role in launching major franchises, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, JoJo Siwa, and PAW Patrol. These accomplishments laid the groundwork for her leadership of Paramount’s global consumer products division in 2018, which encompassed brands from Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, to Paramount Pictures.

Promoted in 2021 to president of global consumer products and experiences, Kaufman oversaw a broad spectrum of activities including worldwide product development, marketing, franchise strategizing, retail sales, and consumer insights for the entire brand portfolio. A year later, she expanded her responsibilities again, taking command of the company’s international business across multiple platforms, including streaming and cable.

In a heartfelt memo to her team entitled “I’ve had the slime of my life,” which was shared with Variety, Kaufman expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work at Paramount, calling it “the honor of a lifetime.”

“Together, we developed billion-dollar franchises. We transformed a yellow sea sponge into a global phenomenon. We rejuvenated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand, made ‘Emily in Paris’ a must-have lifestyle trend, and elevated PAW Patrol to a leading preschool brand,” she detailed. “Our collaborations spanned fashion runways featuring designers like Stella McCartney and Gucci, leading to rapid sell-outs from Crocs to Supreme. Our gaming endeavors, such as the widely acclaimed Star Trek Fleet Command, amassed 20 million downloads and counting. We dazzled on Broadway and London’s West End with hits like ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Sunset Boulevard.’ We also ventured into award-winning hotels, resorts, theme parks, and live tours, constructing a formidable $7B retail business.”

Apart from her achievements at Paramount, Kaufman sits on the boards of several notable organizations, including Lindblad Expeditions, Stella McCartney, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

Her departure comes amid a wave of executive changes at Paramount, particularly following the acquisition by Skydance. Recently, it was revealed that Marc Weinstock, president of global marketing and distribution, is also leaving the company, joining a list that includes global co-CEOs Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins, communications veteran David Bittler, chief content licensing officer Dan Cohen, communications executive Liza Burnett Fefferman, and CEO of Paramount Streaming Tom Ryan.

“I am eager to see what plans David Ellison, Jeff Shell, and the new leadership team have in store for the future. While I will be serving as a consultant through the end of the year, I depart with immense pride in what we have accomplished and confidence in what lies ahead,” Kaufman concluded. “I will always be cheering for Paramount, and I will surely be first in line for the Top Gun Las Vegas experience.”
