In an exciting announcement, a Korean dining establishment in Manhattan has been crowned the top culinary destination.

Atomix, an esteemed fine-dining restaurant located in the NoMad district, boasting a luxurious $395 12-course tasting menu, was awarded the top spot on the first ever North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, during a glamorous ceremony held in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Additionally, twelve other restaurants from New York made it onto the list, featuring notable names such as the renowned seafood restaurant Le Bernardin, the fashionable French eatery Le Veau d’Or, and Brooklyn’s acclaimed The Four Horsemen.

Chef-owner Junghyun ‘JP’ Park expressed gratitude in a statement following the event. “We feel incredibly honored to be acknowledged among such inspiring dining establishments,” he said. “This recognition motivates us to continue exploring and sharing the rich and creative aspects of Korean cuisine with a broader audience.”

This new accolade is an extension of the esteemed World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, a benchmark for food lovers worldwide.

The recognition reinforces Atomix’s rising prominence on the global culinary stage. Currently, the restaurant is ranked No. 12 on the international list, has earned two Michelin stars, and recently received a James Beard Award for Outstanding Hospitality.

Atomix, which opened in 2018 by the husband-and-wife team of Junghyun ‘JP’ Park and Ellia, has quickly become a favorite in New York City, known for its exquisite dishes that fuse traditional Korean flavors with modern artistic presentation, often served on bespoke ceramics.

Signature offerings include tteok-galbi (grilled short rib patty) accented with chocolate and chopi (Korean pepper) and halibut paired with sea urchin and rice porridge.

This achievement arrives as the Parks gear up to celebrate a significant milestone: the tenth anniversary of their sister restaurant Atoboy, which is credited with pioneering the movement towards contemporary Korean dining within New York City.

The restaurant was established in 2018 by Chef Junghyun ‘JP’ Park and his wife, Ellia.

Since then, the couple has broadened their culinary ventures with the addition of NARO and Seoul Salon.

“For us, hospitality has always been about developing spaces that feel welcoming, thoughtful, and innovative,” Ellia Park shared.

“As we look forward to the 10-year anniversary of our first venture and the journey we’ve embarked on, we are immensely proud of our team and thankful for the ongoing support from our patrons as we envision what the next decade could bring.”

The top five spots on this list were predominantly occupied by Canadian establishments, including Mon Lapin in Montreal, Restaurant Pearl Morissette located near Toronto in the Niagara wine region, and TaniĂšre3 in Quebec City.

Only one other restaurant from the United States, the Michelin three-starred Smyth in Chicago, managed to secure a place in the top five.
