Damascus:
The Iranian diplomat in Damascus issued a strong warning on Saturday, stating that Iran would respond even more forcefully to any aggression, in light of Israel’s preparations to retaliate against a recent Iranian missile attack.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that Iran’s response to any attack by Israel is crystal clear, with the promise of a proportional or stronger reaction from Iran for every action taken by the Zionist regime.
Meanwhile, an Israeli military official revealed plans for a response to the “unprecedented and unlawful” Iranian attack earlier in the week.
During his visit to Damascus, Araghchi also reiterated the call for ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, highlighting the importance of achieving peace in the region.
His visit comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, particularly following the recent conflict in Gaza and Lebanon involving Iran-backed groups.
Araghchi’s diplomatic efforts also extended to Beirut, where he expressed support for a truce acceptable to Hezbollah, in coordination with a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Iranian diplomat’s visit to Syria follows an Israeli airstrike near Beirut, aimed at disrupting weapon supplies to Hezbollah from Syria.
Throughout the civil war in Syria, Iran has remained a steadfast ally of President Bashar al-Assad, supporting the regime against opposition forces since 2011.
Assad himself praised Iran’s missile attack on Israel as a strong response that taught a lesson to the Zionist entity, in the aftermath of the recent escalations in the region.
These developments come in the wake of heightened tensions in the region, with both Iran and Israel taking decisive actions that could impact the delicate balance of power in the Middle East.
