Launching a war in the Middle East without clear objectives or goals can lead to an unending conflict. Without defined targets, such wars risk becoming perpetual loops.
For months, Donald Trump has kept the United States engaged in a seemingly endless conflict with Iran. Despite his claims that the war is over and that Iran has been defeated, the nature of war dictates that one side cannot unilaterally declare it finished.
This is not how wars conclude.

On Tuesday, a reporter challenged Trump on his assertion that the war with Iran had ended, noting that Iran continues its hostilities.
Trump was questioned, “Mr. President, there are no signs that Iran is ready to stop fighting. So, what is the plan? Is the strategy to continue bombing until they surrender?”
The president responded defensively, “How do you know? How do you know there are no signs? Do you know something I don’t?”
As it seems, many are aware of details Trump might not be, and the reporter pressed on, “They still attack our allies and kill Americans.”
Attempting to counter this, Trump faltered:
You don’t know what the dialogue is behind the scenes, that they want to meet desperately to try and end it, because they’re getting decimated.
