Star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, Kathy Hilton, recently extended an invitation to us all by opening her luxurious estate for an incredible philanthropic cause.
During the live auction at the Project Angel Food Angel Awards Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday night, a gourmet dinner for 12 at Hilton’s residence fetched an impressive $40,000.
Project Angel Food is an organization dedicated to preparing and delivering meals to individuals in Los Angeles County who are seriously ill.
Additionally, two fortunate bidders each dropped $16,000 for a chance to have lunch with former “RHOBH” star, Lisa Rinna, at the opulent Beverly Hills Hotel.
The auction’s first lot—two tickets to the highly-anticipated world premiere of “Wicked: For Good” in New York City this November, which also included round-trip flights and hotel accommodations—was sold for $13,000.
Ultimately, the evening’s heartwarming efforts led to a remarkable total of $950,000 being raised for Project Angel Food, marking it as the most successful Angel Awards gala since 2019.
The event, held on the iconic Paramount studio lot in Hollywood, honored the beloved actress and staunch Project Angel Food advocate, Jennifer Tilly, with the prestigious Angel Award. Furthermore, Cedars-Sinai was recognized with the Leadership in Love Angel Award, presented by Variety’s Marc Malkin and accepted by CEO Peter L. Slavin, MD, of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System.
In her acceptance speech, Tilly expressed her gratitude by dedicating the award to the dedicated staff and tireless volunteers of Project Angel Food who work behind the scenes. “I think emotional sustenance is just as important as the food you consume,” remarked Tilly as she accepted her honor from Hilton.
Slavin of Cedars-Sinai echoed similar sentiments, stating, “While we are honored to receive this award, we owe a heartfelt thank you to our colleagues at Project Angel Food for the remarkable service they provide to countless individuals in our community daily, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrition for a healthy and fulfilling life.”
The evening also featured appearances from notable personalities including Loni Love, Caroline Rhea, “Wings” co-stars Steven Weber and Amy Yasbeck, as well as Charo and the CEO of Project Angel Food, Richard Ayoub, who shared the inspiring message: “This year has proven that while fires may ravage buildings, they can never extinguish the human spirit. The federal government can reduce our funding, but we shall never cut our services. Providing food is imperative. Compassion is essential. Surrendering is not an option. Project Angel Food brings out the best in Los Angeles and is a symbol of hope!”
The evening’s program kicked off with a captivating three-song set by the iconic Belinda Carlisle, frontwoman of The Go-Go’s. The live auction was expertly led by celebrity auctioneer Harry Santa-Olalla. Other guests who graced the event included Cheryl Tiegs, Kirsten Vangsness, L.A. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, Michael Corbett, Mike Stoller, Shannon K, and Stuart O’Keeffe.
