Just a month following the arrival of her seventh child, Erin Bates has shared that her journey to recovery is far from over, marked by a serious health scare involving septic shock.

In an Instagram update on September 26, Bates, now 34, candidly recounted her ongoing struggles, noting, “To respond to many messages… My leg isn’t functioning as it should, but I’m getting better at using a walker and wheelchair.” She expressed optimism, stating, “I’ve been consistent with physical therapy, and there’s hope that time will facilitate healing ❤️.”

In her latest post, the Bringing Up Bates cast member celebrated a milestone with her husband, Chad Paine, and their newborn, Henry Blythe. For the special occasion, Bates donned a charming green dress from Sweet Moments Nursing.

“One month of loving you and recognizing God’s goodness EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 🙌🏻,” she shared. “And yes, I ventured out of my pajamas… for all of two minutes before they called me back. It really is the small wins, friends ❤️.”

The world turned upside down for Bates and Paine with the birth of their son on August 25. Although their child arrived healthy, tragedy struck as Bates faced complications, ultimately leading to her diagnosis of septic shock.

Sepsis, defined by the Mayo Clinic, occurs when the body has an abnormal response to infection, which can escalate to septic shock—an alarming drop in blood pressure that jeopardizes organ function. Fortunately, timely diagnosis and treatment can save lives, with many individuals recovering from milder forms of sepsis.

Marking baby Henry’s one-month birthday on September 25, Bates enjoyed a serene day at home, exclaiming, “The best medicine! 🥰 I could never tire of baby snuggles,” along with gratitude for “a new pair of pajamas” as she continues on her healing journey.

As they navigate these turbulent waters, both Bates and Paine, aged 38, have expressed heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support from family and friends during this arduous period.
