Michael Cohen created a stir on MSNBC last Saturday when he suggested that former FBI Director James Comey likely “committed a crime” in light of recent indictment news.

Cohen, who served as President Trump’s personal attorney for several years, caught the attention of MSNBC panelists Elise Jordan, Ayman Mohyeldin, and Molly Jong-Fast when he claimed, “I believe he will likely be found guilty.”

“That’s quite an assertion,” Jordan remarked as Cohen followed up with, “I believe he likely committed a crime.”

“Excuse me, what?” Jong-Fast interjected.

“I can’t specify what that crime is, but there are countless documents involved, all in the government’s possession; they just need to pinpoint that one,” Cohen elaborated.

“Having navigated this system, I’m well aware of what a weaponized DOJ looks and feels like. It’s overwhelming,” he added.

Jordan pressed Cohen for clarification on whether he believed he had broken the law, referring to his own guilty plea in prior cases.

Michael Cohen shocked an MSNBC panel on Saturday when he said he believes former FBI Director James Comey “likely committed a crime” while reacting to news of the indictment.
Michael Cohen surprised an MSNBC panel by stating he believes that former FBI Director James Comey “likely committed a crime” regarding the news of his indictment.

Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to charges including tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and perjury before Congress.

Post-guilty plea, Cohen cooperated with investigations probing Trump, publicly testifying against him during Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s hush money trial and becoming a vocal detractor of the former president.

Mohyeldin sought to clarify whether Cohen believed that the Justice Department had been weaponized during Trump’s administration.

Cohen asserted that the DOJ had been manipulated by the administration for decades.

Jordan summarized Cohen’s viewpoint, saying, “So your position is that it was weaponized by Comey against Donald Trump. That’s your argument.” She queried whether there would be evidence presented in court to support Trump’s animosity towards Comey.

Cohen concurred, stating, “I couldn’t have articulated it better myself.”

Comey faces two charges from a grand jury: making false statements to the legislative branch and obstructing a congressional proceeding.

He is scheduled to turn himself in on Friday, with his arraignment set for 10 a.m. on October 9 at Alexandria Courtroom 600 before District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff.

In July, Fox News Digital exclusively reported that Comey was under criminal investigation by the FBI.

The investigation primarily focuses on whether Comey provided false testimony to Congress during his Sept. 30, 2020, testimony regarding the original Trump-Russia probe, known within the bureau as “Crossfire Hurricane.”
