Actor Walton Goggins has expressed a candid attitude toward the unpredictable nature of social media in a recent social media post. His remarks come in response to observations made by former “SNL” star Pete Davidson, who highlighted how quickly online communities can shift their affections for actors. Davidson cited fellow actor Pedro Pascal as a prime example of this phenomenon, noting how he transitioned from being adored by fans to facing backlash simply for his prolific work in popular franchises across various genres—from Marvel to “Star Wars” and acclaimed series like “The Last of Us.” Davidson forewarned that Goggins might be next in line for such scrutiny.

In a thoughtful response on Instagram, Goggins acknowledged Davidson’s insights. “Pete, we don’t know each other but I appreciate the heads up,” he wrote. He went on to praise Pascal, stating, “He’s a great man. A dear friend of mine.” As a 53-year-old actor, Goggins shared his awareness of the transient nature of fame and expressed gratitude for the journey he has been on with his fans. “I imagine a lot of you (and I don’t blame you) are tired of hearing my homilies. Trust me, I’m tired of saying them. I have a few things coming out that I feel compelled to discuss—not for myself, but as a tribute to those who labored hard to bring these stories to life. So if you see something with my name on it, I encourage you not to click on it… unless you want to… and if you do… I appreciate the support,” he noted.

Goggins, who has gained tremendous recognition due to standout performances in hits like “Fallout” and “The White Lotus,” reflects on the irony of social media potentially turning against him at this moment in his career. “How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!!” Goggins exclaimed. “I’ve had the good fortune to engage in fascinating dialogues with many of you… collaborating with top-notch professionals across multiple disciplines over the past few years. Far beyond what a kid from Georgia ever dared to dream. I wouldn’t take a single moment back. So, if saying yes to life more than saying no is a crime, then I’m absolutely guilty. And if this headline is my fate… Well… fuck it. I’m going to enjoy the fuck out of it.”

Davidson sparked this conversation during a guest appearance on Theo Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast. He expressed concern about how quickly social media users turn on public figures they once idolized, sharing a mix of disbelief and resignation over the phenomenon. “Fucking two years ago he’s a hardworking, great actor,” Davidson pointed out regarding Pascal. “Then, all of a sudden, everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy! Yeah, daddy, daddy.’ Then a year later, he’s in everything now and suddenly it’s, ‘Go the fuck away, dude.’”

Davidson even predicted that Goggins will experience similar treatment. “It’s, like, within months. They’ll be on the case,” he said.
