Madonna’s family is facing another loss as her younger brother, Christopher Ciccone, passed away in Michigan due to cancer. Christopher, who was 63, died peacefully surrounded by his husband, Ray, and loved ones. He had been battling cancer in the final stages of his life, with his devoted spouse by his side.
This marks the second death in Madonna’s family in recent weeks, as her stepmother Joan Ciccone also lost her life to a very aggressive form of cancer last month. Christopher and Madonna were once inseparable, especially in the early stages of her career when he served as one of her backup dancers. He later transitioned to becoming the show designer and backstage dresser for Madonna, as well as the art director for her “Blonde Ambition” world tour.
Christopher also worked as Madonna’s tour director for “The Girlie Show” and directed music videos for artists like Tony Bennett and Dolly Parton. Despite a public feud in 2008, where Christopher criticized Madonna in his biography “Life With My Sister Madonna,” the siblings eventually reconciled and even collaborated on a footwear line in 2012.
It’s a time of mourning for Madonna and her family as they bid farewell to Christopher Ciccone. Rest in peace.
