In a surprising incident, an American Airlines flight had to make an emergency stop during takeoff when a cargo aircraft crossed onto an active runway at Los Angeles International Airport without proper authorization, officials reported.

American Airlines Flight 2453, which was bound for Boston, abandoned its takeoff attempt on Sunday morning upon the crew’s discovery of another plane on the runway, as stated by American Airlines in a message to The Post.

The cargo plane involved, Aerologic Flight 619, reportedly crossed the runway “without authorization,” according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Following the sighting, air traffic controllers promptly instructed the American flight, carrying 94 passengers and seven crew members, to cease its takeoff attempt, as per the report from officials.

Flying at approximately 154 miles per hour at the time of the incident, the American Airlines plane was able to come to a halt after the precautionary instructions were given, as confirmed by data from Flightradar24.

The FAA observed that there was a distance of around 5,200 feet between the two aircraft at one point during this tense situation.

After the incident, the American flight was able to depart for Boston without further complications, per information from American Airlines.

“We are grateful to our crew members for their swift actions and to our passengers for their patience,” the airline expressed in a statement.
