- Gemini AI feature now available on older Flip phones
- Galaxy Z Flip 6 confirmed upgraded support
- Fully functional excluding screen sharing capability
Samsung is making strides to enhance the utility of its foldable devices by rolling out the Gemini AI feature to previously released models, including the Galaxy Z Flip series.
Recent iterations, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, enabled direct access to Google’s Gemini AI from their cover displays, providing a more versatile user experience. This improvement was crucial, especially in comparison to other devices such as the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, which offered a more advanced front screen interface.
As per reports from Android Authority, the Gemini feature is now accessible on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Users can activate Gemini by simply voicing the command “Hey Google” or integrating the app into the Samsung Good Lock’s launcher widget.

Gemini on Your Flip Cover Display
According to the latest insights, users can access Gemini features directly from the cover display, although it’s important to note that a long press of the power button won’t activate it. Instead, users might be prompted to “open phone to continue,” an interface quirk that can be somewhat frustrating.
Despite that minor inconvenience, the capability to utilize most of Gemini’s features without needing to flip open the phone marks a significant improvement. This announcement comes at a time when Samsung is prioritizing software improvements aggressively. Just today, it was revealed that Samsung is rolling out One UI 8 and Android 16 updates to its older devices.
Included in this rollout are popular models such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+.
