John Corbett Is ‘Shocked’ That ‘And Just Like That’ Is Over — But He’s Not Surprised Carrie and Aidan Didn’t Last

Actor John Corbett recently shared his thoughts on why he wasn’t surprised that Carrie and Aidan didn’t conclude their journey together at the end of “And Just Like That”, after just three seasons of the show.

The tumultuous love story between Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw spans 25 years, originally starting in Season 3 of the classic series “Sex and the City”. However, their on-again, off-again relationship reached its final chapter in the concluding episodes of “And Just Like That.”

During a recent conversation while promoting his inspirational family film Soul on Fire, Corbett expressed, “I knew from the very beginning of [Season 2] how it would end.” His insight into the pair’s fate underscores his belief that Carrie’s true love would always be Mr. Big, who tragically passed away in the series premiere of “And Just Like That” due to a heart attack while exercising on a Peloton.

Corbett reflected on the chemistry between Carrie and Mr. Big, stating, “Big was fantastic for her, and Chris Noth was perfectly cast in that role.” The series had first tested the waters of their compatibility when Carrie turned down Aidan’s proposal during their earlier relationship, leading to their breakup.

Although Aidan, portrayed by Corbett, made a return in “And Just Like That,” hoping for a successful reconciliation with Carrie, the series ultimately concluded with their separation. In the poignant closing moments of the final episode, Carrie rewrote her novel’s epilogue to read: “The woman realized she was not alone – she was on her own.”

The finale of “And Just Like That” aired on August 14, closely following the announcement that the third season would be its last. Showrunner, writer, and director Michael Patrick King reflected in a social media post, “While writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ Season 3, I realized that this might be the perfect conclusion.”

Actor Sarah Jessica Parker expressed her heartfelt sentiments on Instagram, saying, “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years… The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.”

Corbett mentioned that he was surprised to learn about the show’s end through news outlets. “I was just as shocked as everyone else when I found out it was over,” he remarked, adding, “I’m bummed. I’ll miss seeing what those girls are up to next.”

When discussing Carrie ending up single, Corbett chuckled, “She’s not going to be alone for long. Carrie’s track record shows she’ll be moving on quickly. About seven or eight hours after a breakup, she’ll be right back in the dating scene!” He humorously suggested that by the next dinner, Carrie would have found a new companion.
