Damon Wayans is set to reunite with his former “In Living Color” colleague, David Alan Grier, by making a guest appearance in the third season premiere of “St. Denis Medical.”
In his role, Wayans will portray Dr. Highland, characterized as “a charming yet pompous new doctor at St. Denis.” He steps in while Ron, played by Grier, is recuperating from surgery. While everyone at the hospital, except Alex (Allison Tolman), is enamored with him and his wisdom, the episode is scheduled to air on November 2.
“St. Denis Medical” is described as a mockumentary that takes place in an “underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where the devoted doctors and nurses strive to care for patients while keeping their own sanity intact,” according to the official description. The cast is led by Tolman, with Grier as the cantankerous emergency physician Ron. Other stars include Wendi McLendon-Covey, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, and Kaliko Kauahi. The series was co-created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, who also serves as the showrunner. They executive produce alongside Simon Heuer, Bridget Kyle, and Vicky Luu. The series is produced by More Bees, Inc. and Spitzer Holding Company, with Universal Television as the studio.
Grier was part of all five seasons of “In Living Color,” which aired on Fox from 1990 to 1994, while Wayans appeared in the first three seasons and returned in Season 4. Wayans is also well-known for his role in ABC’s “My Wife and Kids,” where he starred alongside Tisha Campbell-Martin for five seasons from 2001 to 2005. More recently, he starred in Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” series for three seasons from 2016 to 2019. Wayans is represented by Verve.
