Pro-Trump journalist Nick Sortor has been released from custody and has issued a statement in light of troubling developments following his recent arrest.
According to a report by The Gateway Pundit, Sortorâs arrest occurred on Thursday night in Portland, where he was apprehended after a physical altercation. Notably, the woman involved in the incident was not taken into custody.
A user on X, Mark Wilson, shared footage showing Sortor being escorted away by law enforcement, questioning: âPortland PD arrested a journalist, but none of the domestic terrorists.â
Earlier that night, Sortor had anticipated such an outcome, urging Trump to dispatch federal forces to Portland without delay.
âPortland is a complete disaster,â Sortor expressed. âIf I defend myself, it will be **me** facing charges, not the assailant.â He went on to claim that âAntifa is fully dominant in this city. President Trump absolutely needs to intervene.â

After his release, Sortor spoke with Fox Newsâs Bill Melugin, detailing the events that led to his disorderly conduct charge. He revealed he was filming Antifa members reacting to being maced by federal agents when tensions escalated. During the chaos, he was pushed into a flower bed, and a punch was thrown at him.
In retort, Sortor attempted to strike back but missed, opting instead to step away and approach nearby Portland police officers, only to find himself arrested while the officers deliberated on the appropriate charges.
Interestingly, others arrested alongside him included a woman whom he later found did not resemble the aggressor in the confrontation.
BREAKING: Just spoke on the phone with @nicksortor after his release. He informed me heâs been charged with disorderly conduct. I inquired about what occurred.
He mentioned he was capturing footage of protesters getting maced by federal agentsâan embarrassing sight for them, indeedâŚ

Sortor followed up with a passionate post on X, targeting the Portland Police Department. âHey @PortlandPolice, you made a monumental error,â he wrote. âYouâve reinforced what many have said for years: you are CORRUPT and under the influence of violent Antifa members menacing the streets.â
He concluded ominously, âYou thought arresting me would silence me. You couldnât be more mistaken. Stay tuned.â
