The Caribbean: An Emerging Flashpoint.

Recent days have brought a significant uptick in military maneuvers surrounding Venezuela and intensified operations targeting drug cartels.

According to sources, the Trump administration has notified Congress via memo that drug cartels are classified as ‘unlawful combatants’, thereby categorizing the United States as being in a state of ‘armed conflict’ with them.

In a striking escalation, another alleged drug vessel was intercepted in the Caribbean waters.

ON CAMERA: President Trump has authorized a strike against a narco-trafficking vessel associated with designated terrorist organizations, reportedly loaded with enough narcotics to endanger 25,000 to 50,000 lives, off the Venezuelan coast.

Reports indicate that a squadron of US F-35 jets was tracked flying over Maiquetia, triggering alarm bells in the Bolivarian Defense Ministry.

In the wake of these developments, multiple reports suggest that the Department of War has mobilized a considerable force, sufficient to launch a territorial incursion into Venezuela.

The Sun detailed:

“Currently, strategic military assets are in position to commandeer critical ports and airfields, should the order arise.”

“A potent armada lies off Venezuela’s coast: Navy warships, an attack submarine, a group of ten F-35 Lightning II aircraft, and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit—comprising 2,200 Marines equipped with Harrier jets, helicopters, and armored vehicles.”

The Pentagon has yet to confirm invasion plans, though it hasn’t exactly been discreet about its military posture.

This deployment goes far beyond typical counter-drug operations, indicating that Washington may be contemplating significant action against Nicolás Maduro’s regime if deemed necessary.

“The U.S. military is contemplating direct strikes against targets linked to drug trafficking in Venezuela, as previously reported by NBC News.

This substantial build-up of troops in the region, based out of Puerto Rico, has piqued interests regarding potential operations aimed at seizing key installations within the country.”

Moreover, recent military exercises occurred in the US Virgin Islands.

“Our airmen honed their skills in parachuting into contested areas, establishing air operational bases, controlling aircraft, executing search and rescue missions, conducting medical evacuations, and engaging in reconnaissance operations under tight timelines,” cited a military officer concerning practice exercises conducted in late August.
