Nicole Kidman’s 1st Public Appearance Amid Keith Urban Divorce

In light of recent events, Nicole Kidman exuded warmth during her first public appearance following the announcement of her divorce from Keith Urban.

The 58-year-old star graced the amfAR Dallas benefit gala on October 4 to honor Taylor Sheridan with the Award of Inspiration for his creative and humanitarian contributions. The 55-year-old Sheridan is renowned for his work on projects like Yellowstone and its spin-offs, 1883 and 1923.

Previous recipients of the Inspiration Award include notable figures such as Richard Gere, Ava DuVernay, Dionne Warwick, Martha Stewart, Glenn Close, Katy Perry, Lee Daniels, and Julia Roberts.

Footage shared by People shows Kidman elegantly dressed in a fitted black gown featuring cap sleeves. Her straight blonde hair was sectioned down the middle, and her makeup was soft, highlighting her radiant cheeks and natural lip color.

“What Taylor acknowledges, as we all do, is that our similarities outweigh our differences, and we thrive when we care for one another,” she expressed during her stage presentation. “This is why we are gathered here this evening. What better way to promote our shared humanity than by funding innovative research?”

The amFAR foundation for AIDS Research stands as a premier nonprofit entity committed to supporting AIDS research, HIV prevention, education about treatment, and advocacy. As stated on their website, amfAR has successfully raised nearly $950 million for its initiatives and has awarded over 3,800 grants to research teams around the globe since its inception in 1985.

This gala marked Kidman’s first public outing since the confirmation of her split from Urban, 57, after 19 years of marriage, as reported by Us Weekly on September 29. Kidman subsequently filed for divorce the following day, citing claims of “irreconcilable differences,” according to TMZ.

The former couple is parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Kidman seeking to be named the “primary residential parent,” according to documents accessed by Us.

Following the announcement of her parents’ split, Sunday was seen attending the Christian Dior show during Paris Fashion Week on October 1, and she took to Instagram with a post captioned “j’adore dior.”

Kidman and Urban last made a public appearance together at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 event in Nashville on June 20, just days before their 19th wedding anniversary.

Meanwhile, Urban continues to tour amid the divorce proceedings, having been spotted without his wedding ring in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on October 2, ahead of a performance for his High and Alive Tour.

A poignant moment occurred during a concert when Urban included a photo of Kidman and their daughters, which appeared in a slideshow during his performance of “Heart Like a Hometown,” as noted by Us.

Urban’s guitar player Maggie Baugh missed the concert shortly after the pair gained attention for an altered lyric in Urban’s song “The Fighter.” Natalie Stovall, another performer in his band, took her place. Notably, Urban and Stovall did not perform “The Fighter” during the show.

In the tune that Kidman inspired, Urban originally sings, “When they’re trying to reach you, sweetheart, I’ll become the fighter.” However, he altered a lyric recently to include a mention of Baugh, sparking speculation.

“This wasn’t Nicole’s choice, and she’s heartbroken,” an insider disclosed to Us regarding the separation. “Her trust was diminished, and it became irreparable. Nicole had been attempting to work on their marriage and wished for their struggles to remain private. She kept her friends largely in the dark about their situation for months.”
