Supreme Court Denies Certiorari for Ghislaine Maxwell.

In a decisive blow to her aspirations, the Supreme Court today laid to rest Ghislaine Maxwell’s hopes for freedom.

In an unanimous ruling, the Court rejected Maxwell’s challenge against her criminal conviction and the 20-year sentence she received.

For those keeping score, it was back in December 2021 that Maxwell found herself guilty on multiple charges, including: Conspiracy to entice minors to travel for illegal sex acts; Enticement of a minor to travel for illegal sex acts; Conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; Transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; Conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors.

Maxwell’s legal team mounted an appeal, arguing that a Non-Prosecution Agreement entered into by former US Attorney Alex Acosta, part of the infamous ‘sweetheart deal’ given to Jeffrey Epstein in the ’90s, should extend to her case.

NBC News reported:

“This decision affirms that Maxwell’s convictions on three counts and her 20-year sentence remain intact. This case adds to a growing list of appeals that the Court has summarily dismissed as they embark on a new court term.”

Maxwell’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, insisted that the Epstein agreement should apply to her prosecution in New York.

“Of course, we are deeply disappointed that the Supreme Court declined to hear Ghislaine Maxwell’s case. However, this battle is far from over. Significant legal and factual questions remain, and we will explore all options available to ensure justice prevails,” Markus stated.
