Here’s a look at a recent discussion involving Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, as captured in a partial transcript from PBS:
This is not a war zone. Our challenge is not to manage protests outside the ICE facility; it’s to ensure lawful expressions are recognized. They seem to be reminiscing about the confrontations of 2020, attributing the same narrative to today’s situation.
Yes, lawful protests are ongoing in Portland, and they are being effectively managed. However, evidence indicates that instead of focusing on de-escalation, some federal agents appear to be inflaming tensions with demonstrators.
My goal is to alleviate the heightened atmosphere. A military response is unnecessary, and let’s not forget that federal judges have concurred with this viewpoint on two occasions. The government’s case for a so-called insurrection or rebellion lacks substantial grounding when it comes to the realities on the ground.
Watch the video below:
Oregon Governor Kotek claims the issue in Portland is the federal agents’ actions, which she argues escalate tensions against peaceful protestors outside the ICE facility.
This narrative, however, is not widely accepted.

Dismissal of Kotek’s assertions is widespread.
Indeed, it’s the ICE officers, not Antifa, who are supposedly eliciting hostile interactions—obstructing entrances and throwing objects at counter-protesters. Such absurdity has persisted for months, casting doubt on how they present such narratives with straight faces.

These so-called “lawful” protestors are blocking roadways, disrupting traffic flow to and from the facility, and disregarding noise ordinances that local law enforcement chooses to overlook.

Critics argue that Kotek and fellow Democrats prioritize political narratives over a commitment to public order; they appear unwilling to concede any ground that might favor Trump, even if this results in greater unrest among citizens.
