A fan of JoJo Siwa, who was reportedly kicked out of her recent concert, has expressed remorse for unintentionally upsetting the performer.
On Saturday, October 4, a TikTok video by the fan, identified as Anjali, detailed her removal from Siwa’s show in Glasgow, Scotland, on October 1. She had worn a hoodie displaying a meme of Siwa as a cartoon egg, which many believe pokes fun at the 22-year-old’s hairline, a topic Siwa has been open about regarding her insecurities.
In her video, Anjali explained she was unaware of the meme’s context and offered her apologies. She stated, “I’m so, so sorry,” while admitting she felt she was on the verge of a panic attack since it was her first time being ejected from a concert. Anjali added that her intention was to make Siwa laugh. “At other concerts, they usually find these things funny. Bringing humorous items is quite common,” she mentioned.
Anjali added in her caption, “Initially, my friend and I were joking about going to see JoJo, but she truly grew on us, and I was genuinely excited to see her because she seems really cool!”
She further stated, “We had no official merchandise, so we simply printed the first picture we came across and stuck it on our clothes. We didn’t consider the context behind it or that it might trigger her; otherwise, we’d never have done such a thing. Our intentions were not malicious; we didn’t throw it at her but simply passed it on as she asked.”
Footage from the concert shared on TikTok revealed Siwa holding the hoodie with the taped meme, saying, “Wanna see what happens when you do stuff like this?” She then instructed someone off-camera to remove the individuals from the venue.
Siwa was heard saying, “You’re not coming to my concert and wearing something that mocks me. Absolutely not. Thank you for coming; I appreciate it, but we have only space for love here, right? Not in my space, baby.”
Representatives for Siwa declined to comment when reached by Us.
In a heartfelt TikTok video from July, the Dance Moms star shared her struggles with her hairline and thanked her boyfriend Chris Hughes, 32, for helping her cope with those insecurities.
Siwa tearfully shared, “I was drying my hair, and he said, ‘You have a really nice hairline.’ That was the chief thing I was bullied about as a child. It has made me feel really low over the years. And you just said it totally out of the blue. It was just very kind.”
Additionally, she mentioned in the caption that the jokes about her hairline have historically impacted her self-esteem.
Siwa has also discussed dealing with childhood hair loss stemming from stress.
