Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the much-anticipated Season 4 of its fantasy drama, “The Witcher,” featuring Liam Hemsworth stepping into the role of Geralt of Rivia, succeeding Henry Cavill. The new season is set to premiere on Netflix on October 30.
The preview highlights Hemsworth’s portrayal of Geralt as he rallies a band of adventurers to locate his former apprentice Ciri (Freya Allan). Joining them are beloved characters such as Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), the bard Jaskier (Joey Batey), newcomer Regis (played by Laurence Fishburne), among others. Together they must confront the nefarious forces of Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), with scenes showing Geralt battling various foes, including soldiers, a colossal, ogre-like beast, and a spectral wraith.
“The Witcher is in a state of flux. You are becoming something new,” warns a mysterious voice. “How will you be reborn?” posits another voice. This could allude to Hemsworth’s transition into the role previously held by Cavill, who departed the series in October 2022. Cavill was the face of Geralt for three seasons, while Hemsworth is set to lead “The Witcher” through this pivotal fourth season and its concluding installment in Season 5.
The cast of “The Witcher” also features Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Cassie Clare (Philippa), Meng’er Zhang (Milva), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Mecia Simson (Francesca), Sharlto Copley (Leo Bonhart), Danny Woodburn (Zoltan), Jeremy Crawford (Yarpen), Bart Edwards (Emhyr), Hugh Skinner (Radovid), James Purefoy (Skellen), Christelle Elwin (Mistle), Fabian McCallum (Kayleigh), Juliette Alexandra (Reef), Ben Radcliffe (Giselher), Connor Crawford (Asse), Aggy K. Adams (Iskra), Linden Porco (Percival Schuttenbach), Therica Wilson-Read (Sabrina), Rochelle Rose (Margarita), Safiyya Ingar (Keira), and many others.
The logline for Season 4 teases: “In the wake of the events that transformed the Continent in Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves scattered amid a raging war and formidable foes. As their paths diverge and their ambitions sharpen, they encounter unexpected allies who are eager to join them on their journeys. If they can embrace these newfound families, they may stand a chance of reuniting for good.”
