A coalition of families representing Israeli hostages captured by Hamas has launched a request for President Donald Trump to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This unusual appeal comes amid escalating tensions and violence between Israel and Hamas, with many hoping for a resolution.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, advocating on behalf of the relatives, formally addressed the Norwegian Nobel Committee with a letter dated October 6, asserting that Trump should be recognized for his contributions to peace efforts.

“President Trump’s resolve to achieve peace has transcended what many deemed unachievable. From his inauguration onward, he has been a beacon of hope during our bleakest moments,” the families expressed in their correspondence.

The letter highlights a proposed 20-point plan by Trump aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict, emphasizing its potential to restore hope not only for the families of hostages but also for broader regional stability.

“Currently, President Trump’s all-encompassing strategy to secure the release of remaining hostages, and ultimately halt this horrific conflict, provides us with newfound optimism,” the letter stated, directly citing the plan’s acceptance by Israel.

This plan advocates for an immediate ceasefire, the influx of humanitarian aid into Gaza, efforts to rebuild the region, and hostages’ release—both living and deceased—within a short timeframe following Israel’s endorsement of the plan. It also proposes measures to ensure Gaza is free from terrorism, coupled with prisoner exchanges involving those held by Israel.

In a recent statement, Trump remarked on ongoing negotiations initiated by Hamas, suggesting the dialogue could bear fruit in the near future: “They’ve started the negotiations in the last couple of days. We’ll see how it turns out, but I’m hearing it’s going very well,” he stated.

In their note, the family members illustrated their belief that Trump’s actions substantiate his advocacy for peace. “In the past year, no leader has achieved as much in the realm of global peace as President Trump. While words may fall flat, he has shown us results that impact lives definitively,” they wrote, although specific examples of his achievements were conspicuously absent.

They concluded by urging the Nobel Committee to heed their call: “We strongly advocate for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump due to his unwavering commitment to bringing every last hostage home. His exceptional endeavors in the peacemaking domain warrant due recognition. This honor would resonate not only with our families but with millions globally who feel the force of his influences.”

The Epoch Times has reached out to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to solicit their views regarding this plea.
