Infusing her work with vibrant, kaleidoscopic colors and a sense of whimsy, Yen Yen Chou creates enchanting, dreamlike visuals where pastel shades and delicate gradients flourish. Residing between Taipei and Brooklyn, Chou explores contrasts, particularly the dynamics that arise from “the ephemeral and the physical, the micro and the macro,” she shares. At Kishka Gallery & Library, her exhibition showcases two distinct approaches—watercolors on paper and epoxy clay reliefs—which celebrate the allure of juxtaposition.

An Ever Changing View aptly embodies transformation. Water droplets appear throughout her pieces, cascading from slender lines into swirling eddies in “Rippling,” for instance, and taking form as gentle, drowsy figures in “Leaves of Becoming.” These suspended elements suggest a sense of motion, implying they may eventually dissolve or merge into a larger entity.

In this immersive experience, Yen Yen illustrates a whimsical realm pregnant with possibilities. “This new series continues my investigation into transformation and connectivity within daily life. I’ve contemplated dualities…and how these interactions shape our experiences through thoughts, perceptions, and emotions,” she states.

An Ever Changing View is on display until November 22 in White River Junction, Vermont. Discover more of Yen Yen’s creations on her website and follow her journey on Instagram.
