Jamie Lee Curtis, Tessa Thompson, and Regina King are set to be honored at this year’s WIF Honors, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton hotel on November 6th.
The gala will also recognize the contributions of Mara Brock Akil, Maude Apatow, Dede Gardner, Gabrielle Nadig, along with Nia DaCosta and Judy Blume, who will be receiving their awards posthumously.
Under the theme of “Unity,” this year’s awards aim to highlight a collaborative commitment to equity, sustainability, and narratives that convey transformative human experiences.
The night will also include a special guest appearance by comedian Atsuko Okatsuka.
“This year’s honorees showcase the ways in which artists leverage their platforms to foster change,” said WIF CEO Kirsten Schaffer in a statement. “From emerging talents like Maude Apatow to icons such as Jamie Lee Curtis and Mara Brock Akil, their impactful work on and off screen reminds us that connection and solidarity are crucial for the preservation of our storytelling abilities, reflecting our shared humanity.”
Thompson, DaCosta, Gardner, and Nadig will receive the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Film for their forthcoming project “Hedda,” which celebrates individuals who are promoting opportunities for women within the film industry.
Akil will be honored alongside King and Blume with the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Television, recognizing their joint efforts on the acclaimed Netflix show “Forever.”
Curtis is to be awarded the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award, acknowledging her illustrious acting career along with her advocacy for human rights and philanthropy. The accolade will be presented by two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda herself.
The WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award, celebrating a promising talent who exemplifies elegance and style, will be bestowed upon Apatow for her performances in “Euphoria,” “Poetic License,” and her co-founding of JewelBox Pictures.
