The potential for renewed family ties comes after a private meeting at Highgrove last month when Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle, 45, and their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, visited Britain.
According to sources cited by Radar, while William, 44, acknowledges Charles’s desire to mend the relationship with his younger son, he is concerned about such a reconciliation turning into a public event.
The palace is reportedly worried that any joint appearance by Harry and the King might spark another surge of media attention on the Sussexes and their connection to the monarchy.
William and Harry have been estranged due to years of tense exchanges involving the Royal Family, as highlighted in television interviews, the Sussexes’ Netflix series, and Harry’s memoir, Spare.
Despite Harry’s public statements expressing a desire to reconcile with his family, he and William have shown little progress in mending their strained relationship. The Prince of Wales is said to be keeping his brother at arm’s length.
